Our Wonderful Spur-of-the-Moment Visit to Vincennes

It's hard for me to believe that just a week ago today, I was in Vincennes, IN for a (too short) 24 hour visit.

A picture of a photograph of my grandparents, that I took at the reunion.
I had just been in Vincennes, a few weeks before for a family reunion. This trip was for another family reunion, of a different kind. My cousin Judy and I reconnected on Facebook about 2 1/2 years ago or so, almost right around the time her little girl was vying for a Pepsi grant that would benefit her Angels4Epilepsy charity. It was perfect timing, because it allowed us both to ease back into a relationship while having this huge contest to sort of hide behind. I need not have worried though. Judy has become like a sister to me, and I love her and her girls dearly. So, when I found out she was making the long (and by long, I mean loooooooong) 23+ hour trek from El Paso, TX to our father's hometown, there was no question about me driving 5 & 1/2 hours to Vincennes to see her for the first time in over 25 years!

We had a bit of trouble on our way there due to the fact that I didn't realize our bank had blocked ALL out of state debit card transactions due to an increase in fraud. Needless to say, that presented a bit of a problem when I tried to purchase gas. We were running ahead of schedule and were due to arrive into town early. After the Speedway debacle, we were set back about 45 minutes. My bank assured me my card would be unblocked for both Indiana but when we got to the hotel in Vincennes, imagine my embarrassment when my card declined! I had to explain what was going on, call the bank again and was on hold for about 20 minutes until the situation was finally straightened out.

Thankfully, that was the only issue during our entire visit and we crammed in as much family time as we could in such a short time frame.

Judy and I have this pact not to post photos of one another, so until she gives me the A-OK, she shall remain blurred. LOL
My 5 children got along great with her 2 children and 2 of my other cousins. We also got to visit with another cousin and my Uncle (who is my Dad's twin brother). It was one of the best visits ever, and I am so blessed to have been able to spend this time with my cousin and her family!

Memories!
The kids playing at Oaubache Trails Park
My twin daughter with my cousin's youngest daughter.
Pigging out at the hotel on pizza & ice cream!

My cousin's youngest having her hair braided by my oldest.
Mr. B (my youngest son) attacking my cousin Jimmy's oldest daughter Nat.

My youngest, Baby C., wiped out from a swim in the pool.
So many wonderful memories! I hope it's not another 25 years before we see one another again!
