Child Training Bible Review

Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
Proverbs 22:6 (KJV)

I'll be the first to admit it - in the heat of the moment or during the middle of a melt down, there are times when my parenting style leaves much to be desired. I'm not proud of it, but that's just the way it is some times. After the crisis of the moment has passed, it is then that the perfect verse to use in the situation seems to flood my mind. Have you ever been there? When my children question my authority and ask "why?", I can't tell you how many times I've told them, "because I said so, that's why!" When it comes down to it though, the REAL reason should be because God says so and it's never too early to teach them that.

I have been blessed to receive the charts pictured above to review plus another set to giveawayDesigned with Colossians 3:9-10 in mind, the scriptures selected for the CTB teach why we are to "put off certain behavior and what godly behavior we are to put on instead." Whether it's my 2 year old refusing to share, my 4 year old disobeying, or an issue with my older children (who are 12, 12, and 14), it takes only a matter of seconds to find an appropriate verse and deal with the issue right then and there in a Godly way. My little ones are mesmerized by the pretty colors and I have a sneaking suspicion that my son purposely tries to get in trouble now just so I'll get that particular Bible out. Since utilizing the training Bible, I have found that it is much easier to address the "old" behavior and to encourage the "new".

The Child Training Bible makes it easy to go directly to the pages of Scripture because upon completion, verses in 20 key areas are flagged and highlighted. There is also an entire section dedicated solely to the gospel, as well as heart and  gospel questions, and sample prayers.

The charts are $9 (plus shipping) and include: 1 Child Training Bible Key, 3 Scripture Tabbing Charts (double sided), and 1 Set of Instructions. You provide your own Bible version of choice (9"x6"), Post-It flags, and highlighters. You will need to make sure you have the following colors of flags & highlighters: pink, light blue, purple, green, red, dark blue, and yellow.

It took me several settings to complete my Bible, but all in all, I think it took me about 4 hours from start to finish. Here is the completed result:

Learn about Mindy HERE and why she created the Child Training Bible. I love this statement of Mindy's the most: "Whenever there is a problem, I want to train my children to immediately run to the Lord, seek His Words, and allow His truth to saturate the situation." That is exactly what I want for my children, and for myself. I look forward to our journey and I am excited by the thought of seeing my children grow in the Word.

I asked Mindy if a "travel" sized version would be available anytime soon and I was told that it was something that was being considered. In the meantime, I am seriously considering carrying around the larger Bible in the diaper bag because I love this tool so much! Please take a moment to visit them at www.ChildTrainingBible.com. They can also be found on FACEBOOK and TWITTER

Thank you for your review and for the opportunity to win this great resource!! I have been wanting one of these for a very long time. Being an unemployed single mom of a child with special needs who needs to be homeschooled due to his issues means that there is little money to spread so many ways! May God richly bless you for your kindness as I am sure he will bless the ones who receive the prize! Sincerely, Julie
