Little Lamb Kidz Halo T-shirt Review

I was recently given the opportunity to receive and review The Halo t-shirt from Little Lamb Kidz.  I must say, from the moment I removed this shirt from the package, I was pleasantly surprised.  The quality is superb! I honestly was expecting a thin material with an iron-on type logo but got instead a shirt made with a thick high-quality cotton and with The Halo logo seeming almost to be embedded into the material. I also love that there is no scratchy tag to worry about.

I can't attest to the other sizes, but I think that the Large size may run a bit big. I normally wear an XL but was able to comfortably wear the L. I am a mother of 5 children, so comfort is a big plus for me. Although the t-shirt is black, I had no trouble with lint whatsoever. I also washed and dried the t-shirt as instructed and it showed no fading and did not shrink at all. One of the coolest things about this shirt is that the halo really glows in the dark after being exposed to light for at least 20 minutes. My kids thought it was the neatest thing ever! The halo was chosen by Little Lamb Properties because it is a symbol recognized by many faiths, in one degree or another, as a symbol of encouragement.  This new initiative is giving encouragement and bringing hope to children that suffer from having been born with Cleft Lip and Cleft Palate. You can make a difference in the life of a child just by purchasing one of these shirts.

Ten percent of all proceeds will go to the Smile Train : the world's leading Cleft Lip and Cleft Palate Charity. To order  The Halo t-shirts, please visit http://thehalo.littlelambkidz.com/

Halo T-Shirt Adult Available in S,M,L,XL $19.95
Halo T-Shirt Childrens  Available in Size 3 & 6 $14.95

Please visit Little Lamb Kidz to see the rest of their line and to learn more about their commitment to spiritual diversity.

Homemade Petri Dishes

categories: ,
So, today we are making Petri Dishes. Not quite sure how it will all work out, but I guess we'll know soon enough!

We followed the directions HERE to make our Petri dishes. Basically, you add 4 packs of the unflavored gelatin, 4 cups cold water, 4 tsp. beef bouillon or 4 cubes, & 8 tsp. sugar together and stir constantly until it boils. You then pour it into muffin liners, filling each one 1/2 full, and let cool. Once they are set, you put each one individually into sandwich bags and store in the refrigerator until ready to use. Now, I didn't have the "foil" liners which were called for so we're using paper ones. So far they are holding up. Keeping my fingers crossed! I actually halved the recipe but it still ended up being more than we needed for today. Luckily, we can store the rest in the fridge until we need them.

A few days ago, I received a Violight toothbrush sanitizer to review. It is supposed to remove 99.9% of bacteria. I thought to myself, "what a great science experiment this could make!" So, as soon as the dishes are ready, we are going to swab a toothbrush that has not yet been sterilized in the Violight and then again after it has been in the Violight for 10 minutes and see what grows. My daughter is chomping at the bit to use our microscope and I must say, I, myself, am quite anxious to see just how well the Violight works.

Will post update on our germy little project later!

Another Saturday Night

The weekends are supposed to be enjoyable, right? Then why am I wishing this one would end, and SOON!?! It started out with my husband forgetting our 16th wedding anniversary yesterday. Guess I'll get over that, eventually. Today hasn't really been horrible, just stressful. Anybody who has dealt with an almost 3 year old toddler who has a newly developed affinity for spitting, screaming, hitting, and all things associated with developing independence knows exactly what I mean. Luckily, for my sanity, the little one is now visiting dreamland. Unlike last night, when he refused to go to sleep because one certain husband let said toddler take a 5 p.m. NAP! What was he thinking?

Hoping tomorrow will be a bit more of a productive day. I really must get my lesson plans  finished  started for the week. I used to be so organized! Then, I had kids. I think they are holding my brain hostage.

The Student Planners that I pre-ordered from The Old Schoolhouse just recently became available to download and I finally got around to doing that today. Now....to print them out. Good thing I have a laser printer because there are 236 pages in the Secondary Planner that I purchased! I am hoping that it will be a miracle worker in my harried home. One of the things I love about this planner, is that there is a "Library Items Book Due" page. Whoo Hoo. We could have traveled to Europe on the fines that we have paid over the past few years. Well, maybe not Europe but Disney World for sure. I love how I can type in data, save it, and print it out. Maybe there is hope for me yet! If you are looking for a planner, check out The Schoolhouse Store where you get 2 free gifts with Student Planner purchase through 10/17/2010.

On a funny note, check out the video below. Any homeschooler will find the humor in it!

What people are saying about Lizzie Lou Shoes:

Renae Poss (Spring Branch, Texas) I was in Stone Oak yesterday so I made a quick stop at Janie Christine’s to look at your shoes! I’m so glad I saw them in person. They are beautiful and now I’m in LOVE with the new Blue Flower style…those are the ones I’m coveting! This could quite possibly be the beginning of an addiction.
Tammy Rajabi (Katy, Texas) Lizzie Lou’s are candy for the eyes and heaven for the toes!
Tana Johnson (Sarasota, Florida) I am completely smitten with my pair of Lizzie Lou’s! Not only do my feet feel fabulous after wearing them for hours, but as a busy mommy, I feel stylish on quick errands or on mornings where I am rushing out the door!
Melanie Toll (Denver, Colorado) I love my Lizzie Lou’s. I get compliments on them all the time. I gave a pair to a friend of mine as a gift and she says they are the nicest shoes in her closet!
Bea Trevino (Spring Branch, Texas) I saw a pair of Lizzie Lou shoes and loved them.  Being a grandma of five, however, I wasn’t sure if I could wear shoes that were so “hip.”  To be honest, I was worried that they had sacrificed comfort for style.  Was I ever wrong!  My Lizzie Lous are the most comfortable pair of flip flops I have ever worn.  I have flat feet, so finding shoes that give great support is hard.  My Lizzie Lous are my favorite pair of shoes.  I love that not only are they so easy to wear, but that I always receive so many compliments when I have them on.  I guess even an old grandma like me, can be stylish.  Thank you Lizzie Lou shoes.

Glowing Idea Gives Back to Suffering Children Around the Globe

~A Bright Halo Brings Hope to Kids With Cleft Lip and Palate,
 Thanks to Little Lamb Properties~

East Point, GA – September 8, 2010 - Cleft lip and cleft palate are the most common birth defects of the head and face for children worldwide. Children with cleft lip/palate suffer from multiple health issues including difficulty breathing and eating, ear infections, hearing loss, speech and language delays and dental problems. Multiple surgeries and long-term follow-up care are often necessary. There are currently millions of children throughout the world who simply can not afford to have their cleft lip/palate medically treated. In developing countries, a child with unrepaired cleft lip/palate is not allowed to attend school or a job. They are looked down upon by their community and live a life of isolation and shame.

Today, a wonderful new initiative is bringing hope to children that suffer from this physically and emotionally difficult deformation. Introducing The Halo™ tee shirt by Little Lamb Properties – a trend-setting symbol of compassion and support for a widespread pediatric health problem.

The Halo™ is a fashionable, 100% pre-shrunk cotton tee shirt featuring a glowing image of a halo on the front - an encouraging symbol well-represented to varying degrees in the scriptures of various faiths.

Little Lamb Properties will donate 10% of all sales to Smile Train, an organization which provides free cleft-related surgery for millions of poor children in developing countries. The Halo™ tee shirt makes it possible for people who have a passion for this important cause to not only donate money but also raise awareness for it in their daily life.  The Halo™ tee shirt can be purchased at http://thehalo.littlelambkidz.com. It is available in both adult and children sizes.

About Little Lamb Properties

What happens when a child is first exposed to children of other faiths?  Without proper guidance, confusion and conflict can set in. Little Lamb Properties, LLC and its New Spiritual Child Development™ program provides an avenue to introduce your child to the existence of other faiths in ways that foster respect and understanding. Scripture and beliefs unique to any one religion are left at the door. One way this is accomplished is through a series of fun-loving media characters of multiple faiths that behave and interact like children – they laugh, they live and they love their pals without prejudice or fear.

The goal of Little Lamb Properties is relatively simple in concept, yet at the same time, quite powerful. They aspire to reach all children, of all faiths and backgrounds, and help them develop strong spiritual roots which will guide them and ground them for years to come.

For more information or to request a sample or hi-res photos of The Halo™ tee shirt, please contact Publicist Tana Siebold of Orca Communications Unlimited at tana@orcapr.com or (480)522-8598.

I usually decorate a week or so prior to Thanksgiving and don't take everything down until around the end of January! I have another reason to be excited about the Holiday Season this year! I will be hosting a giveaway, with 2 of my cousins, that will run from 11/21 to 12/5.  I am very excited about this upcoming event! For more information, or to sponsor this giveaway, please visit Youthful Tips at Health, Beauty, Children & Family.

America - The Story of US

I love it when I get good things in the mail. It's even better when it's FREE things in the mail! I received something today that I forgot I ever requested. "America, The Story of Us" is a 12 hour mini-series DVD set from the History Channel and covers 400 years of history. We watched some of it today, and I was very impressed with the quality and content. My children were riveted. Unfortunately, this 3 DVD set is no longer free to schools or home schools although the video is still available to purchase.

There are some freebies on History.com though such as the Ultimate History Quiz which can be played online and many PDF files that can be downloaded and saved such as a Teacher's Guide ,  a Classroom Activity Guidea Classroom Study Guide, and a Family Viewing Guide. Full-text can be found HERE and video clips can be found HERE.

America, The Story of US can also be purchased and downloaded on iTunes.

I think my kids are actually looking forward to their History lesson tomorrow!
